Our Home Studies in Virginia Help You Make the Right Choice
The home study is a series of three meetings with your social worker to determine if
adoption
is the right decision for your family. During these meetings, you'll discuss your values, experiences, and attitudes toward parenting.
You'll also learn about the special issues that adopted children face and how you can help your child work through these issues. You'll also be asked questions about the way you were raised and what you learned from other influences in your life.
Criteria for Adoptive Parents
At Adoption Home Studies by Loving Families, we have two major criteria for
adoptive parents. One is that you should be able to love a child who is not related by blood. The other is that you should be committed to your child until he or she becomes an adult. The ability to love and commit to your child is essential.
There is no need to worry since you'll get advice on how to help your child to adjust both before and after the adoption. We're available to assist you with suggestions on how to handle adoption or adjustment issues.
List of Documents We'll Need
There are a number of supporting documents you'll need to gather to complete the home study, including a criminal record check and a child abuse check. Medical reports, employer letters, references, and more are also necessary. You'll be given most of these forms during your first home study visit. We will explain how to complete these forms.
Home studies
are a time for you to information as well. Please feel free to ask questions or share your concerns. You won't be penalized for carefully thinking through your decision - it is one of the most important decisions you'll ever make.
